Accidentally Beautiful

The plane door opened and a blast of fresh air rushed in, bringing the unmistakable smell of the Black Sea. I took several deep breaths. I knew that even such a small thing could bring back countless wonderful memories. And I was ready to take them all in. The pastel-coloured buildings, the sound of the waves - it was so intoxicantly beautiful. With a smile on my face, I strode briskly towards the airport exit. Searching for a familiar face in the crowd of eager people, I was momentarily startled, what if he had forgotten? After all, 2 years was a long time and yet how difficult. My eyes wandered for a moment and then I saw the warm smile of a friend. Opening his arms, he spoke the words that are forever etched in my memory, "Welcome home."

  • Right before sunset, we took a stroll down to the beach, stopping at a small shop to chat. with the friendly ladies who ran it.

As the cool air crept in, we made our way to the nearest coffee vending machine. Waiting for a liquid to fill up the cup, my eyes wandered around. There was a sort of magic in the air, that feeling of adventure and exploration that I so deeply craved. I couldn't help but appreciate these simple pleasures that make life so damn good. The coffee, the sunset, the company - all ingredients for a perfect moment.

  • It was 8:05 a.m. and, true to form, we were running late for work again. Koljo was already on his second cigarette of the day and washing it down with coffee from a nearby vending machine.

Once he saw us, he slowly made his way to the car. As we hit the road, the rhythm of classic tunes on the local radio lifted our spirits, and we decided to grab some breakfast along the way.

Waiting for Monika to return from the bakery, Koljo opened the front door and lighted yet another cigarette. While exhaling the smoke, he looked at me through the rearview mirror and proposed an idea for a new travel adventure.

As I watched him through the haze, my heart raced with excitement envisioning the captivating images I would capture along the way.

  • As I was returning from the market, I encountered an elderly gentleman on my way. Without warning, he pulled beside me on his bike and launched into conversation, quizzing me about my life.

"Do you have a boyfriend?", an old man did not wait for my response before adding, "I have a grandson your age. Wait here tomorrow after work and he will pick you up." Not knowing how to respond I found myself smiling awkwardly.

At that moment, the old man spotted his friend working in the garden behind us and insisted on introducing us. He even demanded some of his homegrown vegetables, which in the end, I reluctantly accepted.

A few moments later, grateful for the gift and still in shock from the encounter, I hurried away, knowing very well I would be nowhere near at this time tomorrow.

The veggies were undeniably delicious, though.

  • Making our way home down the dimly lit road after a late-night meal, we bumped into a friend and continued the rest of the journey together.

Navigating our way through the abundance of spider webs I gazed up at the starry night sky. I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of Ursa Major shining bright above the hotel.

We stopped in our tracks, taking a moment to appreciate the stunning spectacle.

Lost in thought and wonder, grateful for this truly magical moment, we stayed there for a while before coming back to the hotel.
